God’s timing is PERFECT timing!

 My name is Paul and with my wife, Pansy, and two daughters, Madia and Ariel, we make up the team behind Todd’s Clothing. Since I can remember my dream has been to one day own a business in the clothing industry. As a teenager, I began working at a local black-owned men’s store, where I met my lifelong mentor W.C. Washington, and his wife Joan Washington. There, I learned the importance of good customer service and business logistics.

 However, my career path took a turn after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UNC-Pembroke. I went on to pursue a career in technology. After a few closed doors, I found myself in a place of doubt and frustration. With God by my side, I took a leap of faith and began working in the mental health field. God put me right where I needed to be! Working primarily with youth, I discovered my passion to not only help those with mental health needs, but provide resources for all youth in my community to be successful at home, school, church, and community settings.

 When you are faithful to God, God will be faithful to you. He did not forget about my dream of owning a clothing business. Starting as a home-based t-shirt business, we launched Todd’s Clothing in 2019.  Still working full-time, we made one design, one shirt, and one hoodie at a time over the next 4 years.   After working 20+ years in the mental health field I retired to pursue my lifelong dream.  God blessed us with a physical building and we opened Todd’s Clothing on August 1st of 2023.  This date is really significant and shows that God’s timing is perfect because I learned that it is the exact day my mentor opened his business 50 years prior.  

 The idea for “SWAG” (Spiritual Warrior Anointed by God) was simple yet so powerful: a design that would act as a daily reminder of God’s anointing and the spiritual warrior that is inside each of us. Ephesians 6:13 says, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” This powerful acronym was birthed out of a Youth Conference Theme at our church in which I was assigned to lead by my Pastor and father the late Bishop Donald Todd Sr. and my mother Pastor Bobbie Todd.  They gave me this assignment and responsibility because of the call on my life for young people. I never knew that being obedient to my calling would lead to designing t-shirts and opening a business. God has a way of making everything come together to work for our good!

 Our clothing is more than just fabric; it is a testament to the strength and resilience we have through our faith in God. Each piece is carefully crafted to embody the armor of God, offering both inspiration and comfort. Whether you are going through trials or celebrating triumphs, we want our apparel to remind you of the strength that comes from the Lord. God never loses a battle and neither will we when He is on our side!
